Colombo Street is an award-winning Sri Lankan restaurant based in the UK. They came to us with an inquiry to build a website for their food truck and restaurant, which was to be opened in Nottingham. After a few meetings with the young founder of Colombo Street, we heard an inspiring story behind the brand. Their web development project was the very first step in a long journey with Creative Street.

Their project was unique and challenging to Creative Street because they already had a very unique logo related to Sri Lankan culture. Their symbol was a “Gara Yaka face”. We had to develop their website very carefully, maintaining their existing brand presence.
After launching another successful website, they sought our help with social media advertisement and other creative designs. When we started designing their day-to-day social media, menus, advertisements, and much more, we aimed to build a brand guideline for Colombo Street.

After a few meetings, we came up with the following guidelines to create a consistent brand identity:

1. Introduction of new colours and enhancement of the existing colour palette for a consistent branding approach.
2. Primary and secondary fonts for their branding elements.
3. Logo positioning on different applications.
4. Themes for uniforms, business cards, menus, and many more day-to-day applications.
Afterwards, we came up with their new website to enhance the existing brand presence and identity of Colombo Street - the Sri Lankan restaurant in Nottingham. While developing the website, we aimed to provide a unique, modern, and cultural experience to users. We had to come up with unique strategies to improve the journey for their users.
Identified Problems:

1. Lack of an automated pre-booking platform for the restaurant.
2. Limited digital media presence to communicate their brand story to consumers.
3. Digital media presence was limited only to social media.
4. Consumers couldn’t view all scheduled events for the food truck.

Solutions:

1. Automated Pre-booking platform.
2. Unique user experience and easy flow to visit each section.
3. Allowing consumers to view all restaurant menus and offers.
4. Displaying all events in a unique user interface.
5. Gathering a contact list of interested consumers.
We were able to maintain a consistent brand after building the brand guideline. Now, when someone looks for a Sri Lankan restaurant in Nottingham, Colombo Street is their main place to hang out.

A few weeks later, the Colombo Street owners came up with another exciting project for us. They wanted to deliver pure Sri Lankan flavours all around the United Kingdom, and Creative Street got another opportunity to help them expand their brand again with an E-commerce website and Product Packaging Development.

Requirement:

Targeting an E-commerce web platform to deliver Ceylon precooked foods, spices, teas, and art and craft items. (Food delivery date can be pre-customized)

The Colombo Shop E-commerce website development was a very unique web platform because they were offering food deliveries, Ceylon spices and teas, and Ceylon art and craft products. The most challenging part of the website was their delivery system.
Finally, we delivered another successful E-commerce website with product package development. We included a Gift card, Product subscription buying option, and abandoned cart with automated marketing emails.

Currently, we are providing full branding solutions for Colombo Street. We trust that Colombo Street will achieve many more business goals and brand growth soon.
